Most importantly, when you open the import dialog in C1, it's always pointed to the PM import folder so it will only have to generate previews for the photos you are about to import. It also means that you're not playing about with files in the actual C1 folders. I will often do a final cull inside C1 once I've edited the photos and had more time to think about them. This system speeds up the initial import in C1, because you are only importing the keepers. Lastly, if everything is OK, I delete the contents of the PM import folder, eject the card from the PC and format the card in the camera. I then cull the photos inside the PM import folder (I select all, assign 1 star to all, then go through and rate keepers from 2 to 5 stars, and finally wipe all 1-star photos).įrom inside Capture One I then do a regular import, moving the files to their correct folders within the hierarchy but not renaming or adding metadata. I import from the card to this folder, renaming the files, adding metadata, etc. Rather than importing straight to the folder within my Capture One hierarchy, I have set up a single Photo Mechanic import folder that is separate. I'm not sure I understand how you are sending them from PM to C1 but I can tell you how I work with the two programmes.
